2nd Annual Teen Safety Oklahoma Scholarship Contest Launched

 The attorneys at Burch, George and Germany are pleased to announce the 2^nd Annual Teen Safety Oklahoma Scholarship essay contest to spread the word about Oklahoma’s new ban on texting while driving.

Sending text messages while driving poses a serious danger to everyone on the road, and young drivers are most likely to be texting. As personal injury attorneys in Oklahoma City, we have seen first hand the harm that texting and driving can cause families. Starting November 1, 2015, all Oklahoma drivers will be banned from texting while driving. We are committed to raising awareness about this serious safety issue and how the new law is making our community safer. 

Our law firm will award three scholarships to high school juniors and seniors and students currently enrolled at 2-year and 4-year colleges, universities and technical colleges in Oklahoma, who write the winning essays.

Choose one of the following questions to answer in a 600+ word essay:

• In what ways will Oklahoma’s ban on texting and driving improve the community?
• How will you bring awareness to the new texting while driving ban?

We’re looking for clever essays that provide fresh insights and original thinking on raising awareness about the dangers of texting and driving. We need to do everything possible to discourage this dangerous practice. We know young people will have some creative ideas.

We were delighted to award scholarships last year to deserving young Oklahomans who were selected as contest winners. We were inspired by the experience so we are raising the stakes this year with larger scholarship awards for the winners! The price of a college education isn’t getting any cheaper and it is our pleasure to assist.

Larger Scholarship Prizes for Essay Contest Winners

The 2015 essay contest prizes include:

1^st place: $2,500 scholarship

2^nd place: $1,000 scholarship

3^rd place: $500 scholarship

The prizes will be awarded as a check from Burch, George & Germany and must be used to pay for education-related expenses.

The deadline for entering the essay is December 1, 2015. But if our judges are flooded with essays, we may announce an earlier cutoff date and stop accepting essays. It’s to your advantage to get your essay in well ahead of the deadline.
